GFIA

Annual Corporate Governance Update

GFIA’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Johnnie Mokae, opened the first GFIA Governance Update Workshop on 10 October 2008 at the Midrand Protea Hotel.

The workshop was attended by in excess of 70 public and private sector delegates.

We believe that our annual workshop is an important initiative in promoting good governance in South Africa. It is imperative that the fundamental principles of good financial, social, ethical and environmental practices are instilled within corporate South Africa, including the public sector.

The 2008 update was presented by Nigel Payne, a Director of GFIA and corporate governance, internal audit and risk management guru. The 2008 workshop provided an update on Corporate Governance (including the status of King III), the new Companies Act and amendments to the PFMA.

The next Governance Update Workshop is scheduled for October 2010.

The presenter is passionate, knowledgeable and it will be difficult to forget the lessons he imparted
