GFIA’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Johnnie Mokae, opened the first GFIA Governance Update Workshop on 10 October 2008 at the Midrand Protea Hotel.
The workshop was attended by in excess of 70 public and private sector delegates.
We believe that our annual workshop is an important initiative in promoting good governance in South Africa. It is imperative that the fundamental principles of good financial, social, ethical and environmental practices are instilled within corporate South Africa, including the public sector.
The annual updates are presented by Nigel Payne, a Director of GFIA, long-serving member of the King Committee, and corporate governance, internal audit and risk management guru. The 2011 workshop focussed on the applicability of King III, its relevance to the public sector and the effect of the new Companies Act on the public sector. The next Governance Update Workshop is scheduled for November 2012.
